Frosty Four Peaks

It doesn't happen often. Snow falling in Phoenix is a real rarity. This storm brought a beautiful coating of snow to the peaks surrounding the Valley of the Sun...not to mention a very chilly sunset. But, I braved these Arctic conditions and captured an image of Four Peaks. These mountains are east of the Valley and sunset brought out the drama in the clouds. I used a Nikon D300 with the Nikkor 70-200 f2.8 lens. This image helps me understand that I don't always need HDR to capture a good image. It is a matter of being there when the lighting is perfect.
